There are many methods of preparing coffee at home. For very best results, it is important to use the right grind of coffee. In addition, the correct blend of beans must be used for each different coffee beverage.
Espresso
This system is considered the most sophisticated and the best for extracting the most from the ground coffee. It requires a professional coffee maker. The recommended grind is fine-medium, and depends somewhat on the type of coffee machine used. Arcaffè's "Roma" coffee blend is perfect for preparing authentic Italian espresso. The blend produces a very strong coffee with light acidity, especially great for lovers of rich coffee aroma. The blend is particularly suitable for preparing "pure" coffee (without milk).
Arcaffè's house blend is "Mocha Crème". It is suitable for brewing all kinds of espresso (with or without milk), but is ideal for preparing classic Italian cappuccino. Together with the milk, it produces a soft, velvety flavor with a light sweetness. It has become Israel's favorite for perfect cappuccino. "Café Crème" is also suitable for espresso but is excellent for preparing cappuccino in a home coffee machine. The "Toscana" blend is also great for making espresso and cappuccino at home.
Turkish coffee
Turkish coffee is brewed by boiling the grounds in a "finjan" (coffee pot). A very fine grind is recommended. "Roma" is the Arcaffè blend most suited for preparing this way. This blend is also best for preparing "botz" – by stirring a teaspoon of coffee grounds into pre-heated water.
Filter coffee
Filter coffee may be prepared manually (using, say, a "Bodum" carafe) or using an electric coffee maker. Manually made coffee is as fast and easy as making instant coffee. After three minutes the coffee is absorbed by the water, the flavor is extracted, and then by depressing the handle, the grounds are pushed to the bottom and the coffee beverage is ready.
Electric percolators and drip machines work on the principle of coffee grounds placed in a paper filter, where hot water absorbs the coffee and then trickles through the filter into the coffee pot. Arcaffè's "Toscana" blend is excellent for manually preparing filter coffee at home or at the office. For electric percolators and drip machines, the grind should be slightly finer than for manual devices.
Mocha coffee (macchineta)
The macchineta is an apparatus for preparing stovetop coffee, and this espresso preparation method takes a little more time. The word "espresso" implies speedy coffee (express), which is why we call the macchineta coffee "mocha" and not "espresso". The macchineta is composed of three main parts: the water holder, the coffee holder (filter) and the pipe which produces the pressure (1 atmosphere). Arcaffè's "Toscana" blend is the most suitable for preparing mocha coffee.
Our decaffeinated "Pianissimo" blend is suitable for all preparation methods.
Instant coffee – Israel's most popular method
Preparing instant coffee at home is very common. Instant coffee is very different from other coffees in that the production process is very industrialized and not natural. For instant coffee preparation, the beans are ground very coarsely. The grind is then put into steam chambers where a coffee solution is created. This liquid is then either spray dried or freeze dried.
As opposed to instant coffee, preparing coffee by the other methods (espresso, Turkish, filter and mocha) is done using exact grinds only. As a result, the caffeine levels in instant coffee are about half those of the caffeine produced by natural methods.
